Freda Fries, 102 of Kirksville, MO passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Highland Crest Assisted Living Center.
The daughter of Frank and Henrietta (King) Huber, she was born May 25, 1913, one of eight children, in Ellis, Kansas. On May 14, 1935 she was united in marriage to Harold Fries.
Freda is survived by her daughter, Connie Ledford and husband, Larry of Brashear, MO; two granddaughters, Dana Thompson and husband Roger of Gibbs, MO and Tammy Rein and husband Rick of Alexandria, VA; three great granddaughters, Meredith Kesler and husband Cody of Kokomo, IN, Olivia Thompson of Maryville, MO and Allison Thompson of Columbia, MO; one step great grandson, Alex Rein and one great great grandson, Riggins Kesler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 8, 2002 and three brothers and four sisters.
Freda sold Avon for several years and then went to work at Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, KS. After Freda and her husband retired in 1978 they moved to Kirksville.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Kirksville. Freda had an abiding faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was an inspiration to her family and friends.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and loyal friend. She we’ll be greatly missed by family and all who knew her.
Freda loved cooking and baking and was always eager to share with family and friends. She loved to dance and enjoyed dancing with her husband at the Moose Lodge.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (November 4, 2015) at the Faith Lutheran Church with Reverend Mark Appold officiating. Musical selections will be “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art” sung by Vickie Sollars, accompanied by Jeanie Anderson, organist. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Sparks, Ivan Kaden, Cody Kesler, Roger Thompson, Steve Klokkenga and John Garlock.
Visitation with the family will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
