Lurene Adams

Lurene F. Adams, 91 of Kirksville passed away Monday (November 16, 2015) at Kirksville Manor Care Center.

The daughter of Louie E. and Emma F. (Ryals) Shively, she was born August 30, 1924 in Moulton, IA. On March 8, 1957 in Lancaster, MO she was united in marriage to Theodore J. “Ted” Adams Jr.

Lurene is survived by four grandchildren, Ted (Sabra) Adams, Amy (Jon) Hills, Chris (Patricia) Vinyard, and Cindy (Brian) Nicholson; five great grandchildren; one sister, Kay Myers of Rosemont, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two children, Bruce Adams and Judith Vinyard; three brothers, Olin, Frankie and Dale; and one sister, Vivian.

Lurene received her nursing degree in 1947 and her R.N. shortly thereafter. She worked 25 years as a night shift supervisor at Grim Smith Hospital and 10 years at Kirksville Regional Center.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling and gardening.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (November 21, 2015) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Northcutt officiating. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.

Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the
