Edward Stacy Barnhart, 56 of Greentop passed away Tuesday (December 8, 2015) at his home.
The son of Clyde Rondal and Leanna (Ledford) Barnhart, he was born January 21, 1959 in Kirksville, MO.
Edward is survived by one daughter, Krista Barnhart; four brothers, Ronnie, Larry and Paul Barnhart of Greentop, MO and Jeff Barnhart of Craig, CO; one sister, Beatrice (Stan) Grant of Troy, IL; four aunts, Toadie Ledford, Maxine Stubble, Bess Barnhart and Ardes Barnhart; one uncle, Phil Strubble; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister.
Ed began his lifelong career with Missouri State Parks in 1978, as a member of the Young Adult Conservation Corps, at Lake of the Ozarks State Park.
Over the next 36 years, he worked in various seasonal and full-time positions within the Missouri State Parks, including being a crewmember of the statewide trail crew, a building construction worker with the north construction unit, and lastly the head park maintenance worker at Thousand Hills State Park.
Ed had a hand in construction of hundreds of structures in numerous state parks. Probably the one that he was most proud of was the Spring Trail Boardwalk at Ha Ha Tonka State Park, which traverses from the castle lot, down 316 steps on very steep rocky terrain, to Ha Ha Tonka Spring Overlook, for which he was awarded the 1992 Renaissance Award. This structure was one of the first of its kind in Missouri State Parks.
He was a member of Greentop Lodge #635 A.F. & A.M.. He received Christ at Camp Victory. He enjoyed rock collecting, being outdoors, framing and hunting.
A visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday (December 11, 2015) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with a Masonic service to be held at 4:00 p.m.. Graveside service and burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Greentop Cemetery in case of rain will be held at Greentop Methodist Church.
