Mary Trent

June 25, 1949 — April 4, 2009

Mary Trent
Mary Trent, 59, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Putnam County Care Center on April 4, 2009, after a battle with cancer.
Mary Alice (Carter) Trent was born June 25, 1949, in Unionville, MO, the daughter of Virgil and Florence (Riddle) Carter, who preceded her in death. She was reared in Putnam County and on August 26, 1967 she married Glen (Junior) Trent at her parent’s home in St. John, MO, and he survives at home in Unionville.
Mary provided in-home child care for over 35 years. She loved all children and her own children and grandchildren were especially close to her. She liked to sit out on her porch and watch the kids play. Mary liked to garden, read, and cook (although she didn’t like to clean-up!). She also was good at giving medicine (but she wasn’t good at taking medicine herself!). Mary’s favorite vacations were taking drives to see the countryside and beautiful old barns.
Mary enjoyed the simple things of life. She endured sickness with a smile and gentle spirit and was an inspiration to those around her. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Unionville.
Mary’s other survivors include her five children: Lonnie Trent and wife Debby of Unionville, MO; Melody Trent of Unionville, MO; Jeff Trent and wife Krista of Milan, MO; Danny Trent and wife Tiffany of Unionville, MO; and Tim Trent and fiancé Jamie of Lincoln, NE. Mary is also survived by three grandchildren, Ian Trent, Brody Trent, and Chase Trent. Mary is survived by brothers Leon DeWitt and wife Hinda of Kansas City, MO, and Gary Carter of Gladstone, MO, and her sister, Linda Clark and husband Charles of Liberty, MO.
Those who preceded Mary in death are her parents, he brother Larry DeWitt, sister-in-law Margie DeWitt, brother-in-law Dean Trent and parents-in-law Glen and Thelma Trent.
Graveside services for Mary Trent were held Monday, April 6th at the Unionville Cemetery. A visitation was held at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home prior to the service. Pastor Gene Weece conducted the service with a recorded song, “Sissy’s Song.” Casket bearers were Mark Clark, Jerry Clark, Brad Bauer, Brad Trent, Mark Trent, and Wes Hunter. Honorary casket bearers were Chet Trent, Josh Trent, Richie DeWitt, Joe Carter, Robbie Behrens and Tanner Compton.
Memorials for Mary are suggested to the First Christian Church in Unionville, MO and may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO, 63565
