Pat Murdock, 67 of Kirksville passed away Friday (December 25, 2015) at University Hospital in Columbia, MO.
The daughter of George and Mabel (Sandefur) Gardner, Pat was born February 1, 1948 in Kirksville, MO. In January of 1966 in Brashear, MO she was united in marriage to Ronnie Kellison and to this union one daughter was born. On March 12, 1982 in Brashear, MO she was united in marriage to Jim Murdock.
Pat is survived by her husband, Jim; one daughter, Lesley Kellison Hicks and husband John of Mobile, AL; one step son, Curtis T. Murdock of Columbia, MO; one grandson, Kadel Murdock of Springtown, TX; one sister, Judy Salter and husband Morris of Richmond, MO; three nieces, Pam Chapman and husband Mike of Shawnee, KS, Debbie Brown and husband Mike of Nixa, MO and Jacki Swafford and husband Reason of Rayville, MO; seven great nieces and nephews, Colton and Kaylee Chapman, Collin Brown, Sydni, Sammi, Sundi and Naason Swafford; and many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pat grew up in Brashear and graduated from Brashear High School with the class of 1966. She received her B.S. and Masters in Counseling from Northeast Missouri State University now Truman State University. Pat worked at Hy-Vee while she was working on her degree. She spent 30 years in the mental health field until she retired from Mark Twain Counseling Center, as the Executive Director.
Pat was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Thousand Hills Rotary Club where she was a past President and a Paul Harris Fellow, P.E.O. Chapter I.G., Friends of the Library, and was a past President and current board member of Chariton Valley Association. She was also associated with the Red Barn Arts & Crafts festival. She and Jim enjoyed traveling, dancing and spending time with family.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday (December 31, 2015) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Northcutt officiating. Burial will be in Brashear Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Frank Mihalevich, Doug Meline, Jeff Romine, Ernie Loft, Mike Chapman, Mike Brown, Reason Swafford, and Colton Chapman.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
