Donald Lee Miller

Donald Miller, 82, of Roswell, GA, (formerly of Unionville, MO) passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, after a battle with cancer.

Donald Lee Miller was born in Ottumwa, IA, on January 28, 1933, the son of Forest and Inez (Britt) Miller, who preceded him in death. Donald was reared around Novinger, MO, and graduated from Novinger High School. He entered the United States Coast Guard in 1951 and served until 1954.

Donald attended Kirksville State Teachers College (now Truman University) upon his discharge and received a Bachelor’s degree in business administration. He moved to Unionville, MO, to open a Western Auto store and a furniture store. He operated the Western Auto for ten years and then moved to Atlanta, GA in 1969 to open Capital Materials, a dry wall supply company. Donald then began his own residential building company and operated that business for 25 years, constructing homes all over the Atlanta area.

Donald was an avid golfer and admirer of sports cars and vintage cars. He owned his own plane and loved to fly. After retirement he traveled all over the world: Amsterdam, Paris, and Tokyo were just a few of his favorite places. He also enjoyed taking world cruises and enjoyed ball room dancing.

Donald is survived by a son, Bradley Miller and wife Carol of Canton, GA, and two grandchildren, Steve Miller and wife, Rachael, and Sarah Miller. He is also survived by a brother, Charles Miller and wife Donna of Unionville, MO. Donald was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Miller.

Funeral services for Donald Miller will be held at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 9, 2016. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Unionville Cemetery, Unionville, MO.
