Peggy Rose Osborn 72, of Kirksville and formerly of Brashear passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009, at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri.
The daughter of Wesley Gilbert and Geneva (Ransom) Clark, Peggy was born November 2, 1936 in Kirksville, MO. On November 5, 1955 in Kirksville she was united in marriage to Sidney Osborn.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 53 ½ years, Sidney; one son, Alan Osborn and wife, Carmen of Lexington, SC; one daughter, Marla Eckel and husband, Ben of Jupiter, FL; four grandchildren, Ashley Eckel of New York City, NY, A1C Jeramiah Osborn with the United States Military in Iraq and Nathan and Emily Osborn of Lexington, SC; one brother, Gary Clark and his wife, Charlotte of Brashear, MO; one sister, Joyce Niece of Green City, MO and several nieces, nephews, cousins and her special cat, Zeb.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Peggy was reared in the Adair community where she attended Garden Grove School through the 8th grade and Brashear High School, graduating with the Class of 1954. In June of 1954, Peggy started working in the nursing department on the surgical floor of Kirksville Osteopathic Hospital and worked there until she and Sidney moved to the Alvin Clark Place (Peggy’s grandfather) to begin farming. In August of 1963, they moved to Brashear, purchased the meat processing plant and also opened a grocery store. They owned and operated the processing plant and worked together every day for 35 years. Both Sid and Peggy had been actively involved in their community and are members of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Kirksville.
Peggy was the Brashear City Clerk for 13 years, and served on the Brashear Senior Housing Board, KCOM Rural Clinic Board, Brashear Centennial Committee, was PTA President and a Sunday School teacher. She also served as President of the Adair County Library Board and served on the Jail of Visitors Board. Peggy was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She donated her eyes and was very proud to be a donor.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2009, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ralph Wheeler officiating. Instrumental music will be provided by Frankie Williams. Burial will in Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, at a later date.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 Thursday evening, April 16, 2009, at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
