Marcia Hoskin passed away at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO, on Sunday, April 12, 2008. She was 66 years of age.
Marcia Ann (McCalment) Hoskin was born in Kansas City, MO. She was the daughter of Dr. Robert and Virginia (Hargis) McCalment, who preceded her in death. Marcia was reared in Unionville, MO, and graduated from Unionville High School in 1960. She attended Northeast State University where she graduated in 1964 with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. On August 20, 1961 she married Max Hoskin in Unionville, MO, and he survives at home.
Besides her family, Marcia’s great interests in life were horses and Hereford Cattle. She carried on the rich tradition of McCalment Hereford cattle and was a lifetime member of the Polled Hereford Association. She enjoyed riding horses in a variety of events and for pleasure. Marcia was an avid supporter of 4-H, serving many years as a 4-H leader. She also enjoyed attending auctions and buying collectibles. Marcia liked to take photographs and share her pictures with others.
Marcia had a friendly and gregarious nature. She liked to talk and strangers were not known to her. She also had a loving and generous spirit, often directed toward persons and community projects. Marcia was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church until it disbanded. She had recently joined Omaha Baptist Church. She was also a member of PEO.
In addition to Max, Marcia is survived by two daughters, M. Lynn Loney and husband Randy of Louisburg, KS and Marna A. Perkins and husband Jody of Ogden UT. Four grandchildren also survive and they are Ryan, Seth, Amaya, and Matthias Perkins.
Memorials services for Marcia Hoskin will be held at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, on Thursday, April 16, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Marcia’s request was to be cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the Putnam County 4-H or the American Heart Association and may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO, 63565.
