Rudolph Thompson

September 6, 1960 — January 28, 2016

Rudy Thompson, 55, of Unionville, MO, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, January 28, 2016.

Rudolph “Rudy Rude” Thompson was born in Philadelphia, PA, on September 6, 1960, the son of Alonzo Junior and Alice (Brumfield) Thompson, who preceded him in death. Rudy spent most of his life in Milwaukee, WI, where he worked in road construction and in a candy factory. But Rudy’s main occupation in life was to enjoy life, enjoy his family, and to make people laugh. Rudy was outgoing and friendly. Since moving to Unionville in 2013 he could often be seen sitting on the bench along Main Street greeting people and engaging in friendly conversation. Rudy was outgoing and seldom met a stranger. He loved to cook for family and friends and he loved 70’s Motown music. Rudy had an artistic side and he liked to draw and paint. He also collected shoes. Although plagued by some serious health issues, he kept his fun-loving and sunny disposition.

Rudy is survived three children: Alonzo Thompson and Veronica Thompson of Milwaukee, WI, and Tiffany Thompson of the state of Mississippi. He is also survived by a brother, Ronald (Natalie) Thompson of Minneapolis, MN; and three sisters, Angela Thompson(Mark Viers) of Unionville, MO, Michelle Harmon of Milwaukee, WI, and Petewula Thompson of Menasha, WS. Three grandchildren also survive as well as several nieces and nephews. Nina Allen, a close friend of Rudy’s, also survives.

In addition to his parents, Rudy was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Robinson and Ricky Thompson.

A celebration of life for Rudy will take place at the Unionville Assembly of God Church in Unionville, MO, at 1:00 PM, Sunday, January 31, 2016. There will be no visitation. Interment will take place at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to Rudy’s grandchildren and may be entrusted with Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
