Marguerite Goodwin, 93, of Kirksville passed away Monday April 20, 2009 at Northeast Regional Medical Center.
Marguerite was born on April 23, 1915 in Newcastle, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Frank and Harriet (Pringle) Warnock. On September 6, 1936 she was united in marriage to Carl. E. Goodwin who preceded her in death on June 26, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Mark Goodwin on October 18, 2006, and one sister, Jennifer Sellars.
Marguerite is survived by two daughters, Cheri Suzuki of Brunswick, Maine and Susan Martin of Saugatuck, Michigan, two sons, John Goodwin and wife Karen of Olathe, Kansas and Paul Goodwin and wife Bonnie of Kirksville, one sister, Wanita Koerner of Kirksville, ten grandchildren, Seiji Suzuki, Kayo FitzHugh, Taiji Suzuki, Michael John Shanks, Nathan Phelps, Sarah Goodwin, Andy Goodwin, Carly Goodwin, Greg Goodwin, Rachel Goodwin, and four great grandchildren, Skye FitzHugh, who shared her birthday, Easton FitzHugh, Kaeden FitzHugh, and Tory FitzHugh.
Marguerite moved to Ohio with her parents at an early age. In 1925 the family moved to Kirksville where she graduated from Kirksville High School. Before her marriage she worked in the family restaurant. She was a homemaker for many years and later worked at Sad Sams, Wally's House of Beauty, and JC Penneys. She retired in 1974.
Marguerite was a member of the First Baptist Church and taught Sunday School there. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, hand work, cooking, animals, and family get togethers.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Virgil Jones officiating. Internment will be in the Park View Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Phelps, Andy Goodwin, Steve Bromert, Greg Goodwin, Taiji Suzuki, and Cary FitzHugh.
