Donna Powell

Donna Jean Powell, 84, of Kirksville passed away Saturday (February 13, 2016) at Northeast Regional Medical Center.

The daughter of Cecil and Lena (Norman) Carlyle, she was born October 31, 1931 in Sublette, MO. On May 13, 1946 in Kirksville she was united in marriage to James Powell.

Donna is survived by one son, Randy Powell and wife Kathleen of Kirksville; two daughters, Sherry Foster and husband Dennis of Green City, MO and Kathy King of Ainsworth, NE; ten grandchildren, Brian Miller and Michael Miller of Kirksville, Bradley Daniels of Unionville, Jeremy Foster of Green City, Jill Shahan of Kirksville, Matthew Powell of Denver, CO, Meghan Murphy of Hartsburg, MO, Jeremy Veach of Kirksville, J.R. Holloway and Tristan Holloway of Ainsworth, NE, several great grandchildren; two half-brothers, Johnny Carlyle of Moline, IL and Cecil Dale Carlyle of Kirksville; and one half sister, Mary Jeffries of Kirksville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one infant daughter, Leana; two brothers, Dale Carlyle, Donald Carlyle and two sisters, Belinda Carlyle and Doris Olgesby.

Donna grew up in the Kirksville area. As her children were growing up she provided in-home daycare for many children and their families. She later worked at the Kirksville Schools and the Diagnostic Center until she retired.

She was a member of Decker Chapel. Donna was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday (February 18, 2016) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Shobe officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Highland Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the
