Jerry Dean, 86, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital on Friday, March 11, 2016.

Jerry Dean was born on April 11, 1929, in Brazil, IA, the son of Clyde and Sarah (Watts) Dean, who preceded him in death. Jerry worked with Wilbert Vault Company in Rock Island, IL, after High School. He married Margery Shrake on Thanksgiving Day, 1954 and she survives in Unionville, MO. Jerry later worked with John Deer Plow in Moline, IL, and with the Boeing Corporation in Seattle, WA. He and Margery moved to Rockford, IL, after Jerry left Boeing. He then worked for a number of years at Ingersoll-Rand and retired from that company in 1993. Jerry and Margery moved to Unionville, MO, in 1998 and then they moved to the Putnam County Care Center in 2011, where Jerry was living at the time of his passing.

Jerry enjoyed watching crime dramas on television, especially NCIS and Law and Order. Jerry had a good sense of humor. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Unionville and also financially supported St. Joseph’s Indian School in Chamberlain, SD for a number of years.

In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by a daughter, Vicky Laube of Machesney Park, IL, and by two granddaughters, Ebony Stretch and Samantha Laube.

Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Dean, and a sister, Susan Dean.

Funeral services for Jerry Dean will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, at 11:00 Saturday, March 19, 2016. Visitation will take place one hour before the service. Interment will be at the Unionville Catholic Cemetery in Unionville, MO.

Memorials are suggested to the Unionville Catholic Cemetery and may be entrusted with Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
