Betty June McClellan 82, of Queen City passed away Friday morning (May 8, 2009) at her home.
The daughter of Price and Susie (Clifton) VanBibber, she was born November 10, 1926 at St. Louis, MO. On March 3, 1945 at Lancaster, MO she was united in marriage to Ivan (Short) McClellan who preceded her in death on August 12, 1994. Also preceding her in death were her parents, one sister, Reba Mae Werner, two half brothers, Delbert VanBibber and Tommy VanBibber and a great grandson, Isaac Winters.
Surviving are five children, twin sons, Dannie McClellan and wife Theresa and Donnie McClellan and wife Jenny both of Kirksville, Jim McClellan and wife Mary Kay of Queen City, Joyce Engle and husband Dennis of Queen City and Jeff McClellan and wife Lisa of Queen City; nine grandchildren, Patrick, Jennifer, Mandi, Clifton, Becky, Matthew, Kimberly, Echo and Jacob; fourteen great grandchildren, one sister, Francis Wiggans and husband Cleo of Macon, MO; one brother, David VanBibber and wife Helaine of Greentop and two aunts and two uncles.
Betty grew up west of Kirksville, where she attended the Stinson rural school and the Kirksville High School graduating with the Class of 1944. After graduation she worked for a short time at Grim Smith Hospital in Kirksville. Following her marriage she worked for the Queen City school system for thirteen years and then Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (now Truman State University) for twenty three years until retiring in 1992.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday (May 11, 2009) in the Dooley Funeral Chapel with Bill Ford giving the Eulogy. Musical selections will be "Go Rest High On That Mountain" and "I Hope You Dance". Interment will be in the Queen City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her sons, Dannie McClellan, Donnie McClellan, Jim McClellan and Jeff McClellan.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday (May 10th) from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the
Dooley Funeral Home
