Nellie Maxine Schmitter, 89, passed away Thursday, April 14th, 2016 at her home in Kirksville. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.
The daughter of Emmett and Edna Kent, she is survived by her daughter, Glenetta Lynn Robbins Oliver and James Oliver, and Jimmy Robbins. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Daniel Robbins and family, Stephanie Oliver Strobel and family, Clayton Robbins and family, Jeffrey Robbins and Lori Shumate, Seth Robbins and family, Natalie Kita and family, Sarah Bealles, Emily Robbins, Hannah Robbins, and Lily Robbins. She is also survived by many great grandchildren and one great, great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Otto Leon Schmitter, her sons Bobby G. Robbins and David L Robbins, and her great grandson, Dylan Robbins.
She was united in marriage to Glen Robbins in 1943 and four children were born from that marriage. Maxine was later united in marriage to Otto Leon Schmitter and they were lifelong partners in marriage until Leon's passing in 2015.
Maxine enjoyed being retired and spending time with her husband and her family. She was part of the foundation of her entire family and she held her family in the utmost importance.
She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, sewing, and watching the Chicago Cubs baseball games. Most of all, she loved spending time visiting friends and family.
She is most remembered from running the Tipton Corner restaurant, working at Hollister's, and selling Avon for many years. She and Leon knew no strangers. Maxine will be dearly missed by many.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday (April 16, 2016) at the Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Burial will be in the Queen City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the
