Delphine Pitt McCammant, 72 of Kirksville, passed away Monday (May 11, 2009) at Northeast Regional Medical Center.
The daughter of Julius Gidney and Mary Elizabeth (Myers) Loughead, she was born August 11, 1936 in Pennville, MO. On August 7, 1955 in Knoxville, IA she married L. Keith Pitt and he preceded her in death on April 7, 1971. On February 27, 1999 in Kirksville she married Archie Marion (Mac) McCammant and he preceded her in death on November 20, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Leonard Loughead and Oris and Dale in infancy; two sisters, Ethel Myers and Lillie Hammons and two grandchildren.
Delphine is survived by her children, Beverley Johnson and husband Henry R. of Eldon, MO, Virginia Potter and husband Clyde of Baring, MO, Patty Corneilson and husband Alan of Kirksville, John Pitt and wife Elizabeth of Kirksville and Kay McDonald and husband Steve of Camdenton, MO; three step children, Randy and Michael McCammant and Sandra Hannah; one brother, Junior Loughead of Unionville, MO; five sisters, Ruthie Page of Chariton, IA, Stella Robinson of Lucas, IA, Dorothy Hobbs of Trenton, MO, Helen Wright of Katyville, MO and Alice Holiday of Pennville, MO; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Delphine grew up in Pennville and graduated from Green City High School. She moved to Knoxville, IA where she worked as a nurse for a short time and met and married Keith. After the death of Keith she moved back to the Green City area to make her home. In 1985 she met Mac and later married and in 1988 moved to Kirksville. She loved to do needlepoint, crochet, sew and to read.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday (May 14, 2009) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Virgil Jones officiating. Burial will be in Burnett Cemetery in Pennville, MO.
Pallbearers will be Tony Robbins, David Potter, Chris Johnson, Henry L. Johnson, Robert Wood and Rick Veverka. Honorary bearers will be Cary Dooley, Jim Blankers and Joe Robbins.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday (May 13, 2009) at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
