Gustavo E. “Gus” Ochoa, 47, of Kirksville, MO passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO.

The son of Luis Ochoa and Dinorah Espinosa Cerbor, Gus was born August 13, 1961 in Mexico City, Mexico.

He is survived by his parents Luis Ochoa and Dinorah Espinosa Cerbor, two brothers, Tadeo Correa and Rodolfo Correa both of Cancun, Mexico; four sisters, Cecilia Correa of Cancun, Mexico, Ma,Fernonda Correa of Mexico City, Mexico, Adriana Correa and Darinka Correa both of Cancun, Mexico and aunts and uncles that he was raised with whom he considered his brothers and sisters Eugenio Espinosa, Rodolfo Espinosa, Silvia Espinosa, Cesar Espinosa, Antonio Espinosa, Lucha Espinosa, Rafael Espinosa, Hilds Espinosa, Magdalena Espinosa and Carolin Esinosa .

Gus was reared in Mexico City, Mexico by his grandma, known as Mama Lucha, along with his aunts and uncles who he considered his sisters and brothers. He received his education in Mexico City, Mexico. After attending college in Mexico he was a Production Assistant for TV Azteca in Mexico City. Gus moved to Los Angeles, California in 1986 to work for Channel 34 in production. While living in El Segundo, California he coached Youth Soccer. In 2000 Bob Rockhold brought Gus to Kirksville, MO to work for the Bank of Kirksville, where he was employed at the time of his death. Gus was killed in the tornado that went through Kirksville on Wednesday along with his fiancé, Alisha Brune. Alisha was the angel of Gus’s life . A marvelous women and full of love, which made Gus the happiest man. And something such as an unforgettable event they died together to be together eternally.
Gus was loved and respected in Mexico and also in Kirksville, MO. He was a very honorable man and very good to people. In Mexico they called him “Barry Manilow” as his facial features resembled the singer.

A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Father Christopher Cordes officiating. Cremation will follow the service and burial will be at a later date in Mexico.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Rockhold, Nancy Cruz., Rafael Ramirez, Mario Razo and Alex Mendoza

Visitation with family and friends will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 Monday evening, May 18, 2009, at the
