William “Bill” Edward Cannon, 88, of Novinger, MO died at his home on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. Bill was born in Sullivan County, Milan, MO on March 26, 1928, the son of William Allen and Vera Gladys (Elliott) Cannon. Bill graduated from Milan High School in 1946 where he was active in FFA, earning the national American FFA degree. Bill raised, trained and showed American Saddle Bred horses. He was inducted into the United States Army in 1950. He was later honorably discharged in 1952 as a Sergeant after fighting in the Korean War.
Bill was united in marriage to Mary Jo Ann Forbes of Unionville, MO, on April 18, 1951, who survives at home. They are the parents of Melody Young, Martha Becker, Billee May, Charla Winburn, Cindee Adkins, and Edward Cannon, who survive. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.
Bill enjoyed so much daily visits from his friends and neighbors Delbert and Debbie Atchley and especially enjoyed Debbie’s treats. He also looked forward to seeing his friend Bill May at the horse sales.
William Edward was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson Michael James Adkins, and one son-law, James R. May.
Graveside services for William Edward Cannon were held at the Oak Grove Cemetery east of Milan, MO, at 4:00 PM on Saturday, May 14, 2016.
