Mildred Probasco, 96, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO, on Monday, May 30, 2016. She had been a patient for just a few days.

Mildred Pauline Probasco was born in western Putnam County, MO, on January 17, 1920, the worst blustery night of the year. She was the daughter of Charles Loren and Mattie Gail (Surry) Wolfe, who preceded her in death. Mildred attended the Wolfe School all during her elementary years. She earned her GED in the early 1960’s. Mildred was married to Noah Edgar Probasco on August 1, 1939. They were married for 57 years when Edgar preceded her in death on February 5, 1996.

Edgar and Mildred were blessed with four children: Larry Probasco and wife Nancy and Robert Probasco, all of Unionville, MO, Jo Nell “Jody” Kimmel and husband Paul of Green City, MO, and Judy Sayre and husband Bill of Kirksville, MO. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Tim Probasco, Jana Couch, Todd Probasco, Mike Kimmel, Mindy Conner, Jeff Kimmel, Kalee Evans, Gayla Kent, and Kelsee Corrick. Seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild also survive. Mildred is also survived by her brother, Neal Wolfe and wife Rosemary of Oskaloosa, IA and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Wolfe of Tuscaloosa, AL, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mildred was also preceded in death by two brothers, a sister-in-law, and a great granddaughter, Lillee Sayre-Kolega.

Mildred spent her entire life in Putnam County. She was a stay at home mom until all her children were in school and then she worked various jobs until she was needed to help care for her son, Robert, after his accident. She was an excellent seamstress and loved to crochet and quilt and made most of her clothing for herself and family. She was a very creative person who loved to try new crafts. She loved to read her Bible, Christian books and listen to Christian music. Mildred gave her life to Jesus when she was 14 years old. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Unionville for 72 years and most recently of Green City Baptist Church. She was active in Sunday School, WMU and loved doing mission work. She worked with Edgar as a deacon’s wife as they served the Lord together. She left a great legacy of faith and her greatest desire was to see her children and grandchildren come to know the Lord. Mildred also liked to work outside with Edgar and hunt and fish with him as well.
