Robert Johnston

Robert Johnston, 60 of Green Castle, MO passed away Wednesday (June 1, 2016) in an auto accident in Columbia, MO.

The son of George E. and Lora Eileen (Bell) Johnston, he was born September 1, 1955 in Carlinville, IL. On June 30, 1974 in Petersburg, IL he was united in marriage to Mary Backs.

Robert is survived by his wife, Mary; three children, Dawn Baker and husband Hal of Clinton, AR, Eric Johnston of Kirksville, MO and Stephanie Jamison and husband Mike of Wright City, MO; six grandchildren, Tyler Baker (Bud), Timothy Baker (Monster Man), Hallie Baker (Princess), Hannah Baker (Hannah Banana), Levi Jamison (Thunder) and Evan Jamison (Lighting); his father, George Johnston; two brothers, Gary Johnston and wife Jill of Greenview, IL and Jeff Johnston and wife Rhonda of Greenview, IL; three sisters, Charlotte Watkins and husband Bob of Petersburg, IL, Lawanda Flynn of Savannah, GA and Debra Britt and husband Mike of Neponset, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Robert graduated from Greenview High School in 1974. He worked as a farmer in Illinois before going to Bible College at Fellowship Bible College in East Peoria, IL, graduating in 1986. In 1988 he surrendered to the mission field and worked with the Haitian people in the Dominican Republic and Haiti.

He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Green Castle, MO. He enjoyed serving the Lord and greatly enjoyed his grandkids.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday (June 8, 2016) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Jewell Cemetery north og Kirksville, MO.
