Dannie Mitchell

Dannie Howard Mitchell passed away tragically on May 25th, 2009. Dannie was born on May 27th, 1946, in Yakama, WA, to Vivian Ruth Mitchell, and Willie Howard Mitchell. He attended Putnam County Schools in Unionville, MO, and graduated from Putnam County High School in 1964. Starting his family in Moline, IL, he was employed at International Harvester, where he worked 14 years. He later relocated back to his parent’s hometown of Unionville, MO, where he became a salesman at Lake Thunderhead selling lake lots. One of his pride and joys was meeting and mixing with families, helping them to find their dream homes. Helping others and giving of himself was something that always came easy to him.
In his retirement years Dannie enjoyed antiques, his pet Rottweilers, hunting, gun collecting, flea markets and attending auctions where he loved to talk to everyone. He was a man that always had a story to tell, and a laugh to share with anyone and everyone.
Dannie is survived by his wife Christina, his son Gary Mitchell and wife Kim of Centerville, IA, his daughter Susan Johnson and her husband Rob of Unionville, MO, and his daughter Venessa Gier and her husband Donnie of Unionville, MO. Dannie is also survived by 8 grandchildren; Troy Johnson, Trisha Johnson, Tracy Johnson, Tegan Johnson, Nickalos Mitchell, Kenzi Mitchell, Cassy Gier and Maddy Gier. Dannie is also survived by his sister Wanda Gentry, and lots of cousins and extended family.
In addition to Dannie's parents, those who preceded him in death are his sister Joann Bunnel, brother in law Jerold Bunnel.
There will be no services for Dannie but, a visitation for sharing memories with the family will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. at Playle & Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville MO. Memorial contributions can be sent to Playle & Jones Family Funeral Home for the family.
