Larry Joe Anderson, 79, of Kirksville, Missouri, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 7, 2016.
The son of Finis C. and Chloe B. (Mathes) Anderson, Larry was born July 27, 1936 in Livonia, Missouri. He attended school in Queen City, Missouri, played basketball and baseball, served as class president, and graduated from Queen City High School in 1954. Larry married Judy K. Gosser of Kirksville, Missouri in 1955 and returned to Livonia to farm and raise a family. Their union lasted twenty-five years and four children were born to this union. Larry enjoyed the challenges and hard work in making their 330-acre farm a success. After selling the farm and moving to Kirksville in 1976, Larry studied to become an electrician. In 1981 Larry was united in marriage to Marilyn L. Williams of Kirksville. Owners and operators of Anderson Appliance for twenty-four years, Larry and Marilyn cherished working together and serving their community.
Soft-spoken and gentle, Larry will always be remembered by his family for his sense of humor, quick wit, and easy laugh. He enjoyed traveling with Marilyn, camping, and Cardinals baseball. Known as an honest man who loved his family, Larry was respected and liked by all who knew him. His grandchildren will always remember their tractor rides with Grandpa.
Surviving are his wife, his four children, Daniel Dean Anderson of Kirksville, Tracie Lynn Bethea and husband Jody of Bonita, California, Kim Renee Baize and husband Michael of Columbia, Missouri, and Larry Dale Anderson and wife Jo Ellen of Chillicothe, Missouri, fourteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, brother John Anderson and wife Helen, brother Howard Anderson and wife Lola, brother Paul Anderson, sisters Reva Anderson and Joyce Casady, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Larry in death were his parents, brother James L. (Chuck) Anderson and wife Doris H. Anderson, brothers-in-law Wendall Anderson and Junior Casady, sister-in-law Doris Anderson, niece Estelle Drane, and nephew Mike Steggall.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 11 at 10 a.m. at Davis-Playle Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Kirksville with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with a lunch immediately following. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.
Larry’s grandson will serve as pallbearers.
