Nelma Carol Centera, age 101 passed away Saturday (Junes 18, 2016} at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville.
The daughter of Oren and Mary Melissa (Schnelle) Godfrey, Carol was born December 20, 1914 in Lemonville, MO. On December 23, 1967 in Bremerton, Washington she was united in marriage to Benny Centera who preceded her in death on June 3, 2000.
Also preceding her in death were her parents and two sisters, Ethel Howe and Arlene Blaine.
Carol is survived by one brother, Curtis Godfrey and wife Ethel of Casper, WY; several nieces and nephews including, Jean Blaine Morrison, Kathern Lasher, Ann Draffen and Harold Blaine and several great-nieces and nephews.
Carol was reared as a little girl in Putnam County, MO and later around Powersville, MO. She left the area right after high school and moved to Chicago. She was employed in Honolulu, Hawaii as a Property Manager and Real Estate Agent. After Carol and Benny retired they moved to Kirksville, MO in 1985. Carol had a collection of dolls from many countries. She loved life to the fullest.
Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at the Park View Memorial Gardens with Monsignor David Cox officiating. Burial will be in the Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, MO.
