Martha (Marty) Denslow Van O’Linda Wadlin, of Springfield, Mo., (formerly of Kirksville, Mo.) passed away on Saturday June 18.
Marty was born on January 21, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Dr. John Stedman Denslow and Jane Laughlin Denslow. She was united in marriage to Calvin Van O’Linda on June 5, 1956 in Kirksville, Mo. She later married James Wadlin on June 19, 1977 in Kirksville, Mo.
Marty was a 1955 graduate of Kirksville High School and attended Northeast Missouri Teachers College. Marty grew up on Thousand Hills Farm and was active in 4-H and showing registered Angus Cattle. Marty worked in public service throughout her career including time as the director of the Northeast Missouri Area Agency on Aging and later ran her own insurance business. Marty was very active in the Kirksville Thousand Hills Rotary Club, serving as President. She also was active in the Truman State Football Booster Club. She enjoyed travelling, gardening, bird watching (she dearly loved bluebirds and eagles), crafting and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was extremely proud to be the great-granddaughter of Dr. A.T. Still, founder of Osteopathic Medicine and spoke at his induction into the Hall Of Famous Missourians in 2014 at the Capitol in Jefferson City, Missouri
She is survived by two children, Chris Van O’Linda and wife, Linda of Rogersville, Mo., and Cherié Seipel and husband, Michael of Callao, Mo. Marty is also survived by eight grandchildren, Brittaney Sterling and husband, Jason, Bedford, Tx.; Calvin Van O’Linda and wife, Carmen, Cozad Ne.; Kathryn Rich and husband Ben, Marshfield, Mo. ; Jesse Van O’Linda and fiance’, Brittany Dimitroff, Springfield, Mo.; Diane Frazier, Rogersville, Mo. ; Abigail, Rebekah and Gregory Seipel, Callao, Mo. : Great-Grandchildren: Madeline and Jackson Sterling, Cash Melo, Cason and Cambryn Van O’Linda. She is also survived by her brother Pete Denslow and wife, Sherrie, Huntsville, Mo. and sister-in-law Roberta Denslow of Raymore, Mo. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marty was preceded in death by her husbands, parents and a brother, Michael Denslow.
A memorial service will be held Saturday July 30th at 11:00 AM at Davis Playle Funeral home in Kirksville, MO.
