M. Violet Anders
Mary Violet Anders, 64, of Moberly, MO., formerly of Kirksville, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Moberly Regional Medical Center.
She was born April 13, 1945 in Adair County, MO., the daughter of Virgel Glen and Mary Jane (Snow) Durham. On May 19, 1963 in Kirksville, she was united in marriage to Forest “Sonny” Anders, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, one brother-in-law, one step-son, two nephews, and one niece.
She is survived by one brother, Bob Durham and wife Nancy of LaPlata, MO; four sisters-in-law, Carolyn Durham and Linda Durham of Kirksville; Connie Anders of Iowa; and Shirley Caldwell of Georgia; one brother-in-law, Frank McQueen and wife Mary of Grapeland, TX; two step-sons, Tim Anders of Ottumwa, IA; and Randy Anders and wife, Valerie of the state of Illinois; one step-daughter, Debbie McLeland and husband, Ken of Ottumwa, IA; several step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews, and several cousins.
Violet was reared in Adair County where she received her education at the Sugar Creek and Kohlmyre Rural Schools. Following her marriage, she was a homemaker until she became employed at Hollister’s where she worked for over twenty years. Violet enjoyed fishing, John Wayne movies, and watching hummingbirds. She was a member of Sugar Creek Church.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Virgil K. Jones and Pastor Doug Coonce officiating. Special musical selections will be “In the Garden”, “Go Rest High On That Mountain”, and “Mansion Over the Hilltop”. Jamie Pauls will accompany Stacie Pauls , soloist. Burial will be in the Lutz Cemetery in Western Adair County.
Pallbearers will be Nick Payton, Billy Durham, Brad Williams, Pete Davis, Jeff Durham, and Bobby Lee Durham. Honorary bearers will be John Paul Durham, Alan Durham, Mike Boren, Ethan Boren, and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at
