Connie Louise Knowles

Connie Knowles, 65, of Unionville, MO, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, July 6, 2016. She had been battling cancer.

Connie Louise Knowles was born in Kirksville, MO, on August 23, 1950, the daughter of Steven and Rose (Farley) Mayer, who preceded her in death. Connie was reared in Unionville and graduated from Unionville High School in 1968. She began working at Farmer’s Bank in Unionville in 1967 and continued working there until her death. Connie married Jerry Knowles in December of 1972 and he survives at home.

Connie was well known for her friendly smile and helpful spirit. She tried to treat everyone the same. She enjoyed laughter with friends and family. Connie was a Unionville girl through and through, never wanting to live anywhere else. She had many life-long friends with whom she enjoyed vacations and road trips. Connie liked to shop, enjoyed bowling, and was an avid fan of the Andy Griffith Show. She had a gentle and kind spirit and was appreciated by everyone who knew her. Connie was devoted to her faith and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Unionville.

In addition to her husband, Connie is survived by two daughters, Erin Warnick and husband Todd, and Kellie Purdy and husband Mike of Unionville, and a son, Derek Knowles and wife Molly also of Unionville. Her grandchildren are Ashley Purdy, Cody Purdy, Cameron Purdy, and Taylor Purdy. Her great grandchildren are Lauryn Walker and Carter Purdy. Connie is also survived by two sisters, Kim Mayer and Lynn Worley, and by two brothers, Alan Mayer and wife Connie and Mitch Mayer and wife Kym, all of Unionville. Her mother-in-law, Cleta Knowles of Unionville, also survives.

Besides her parents, Connie was preceded in death by a sister, Lori Mayer, who passed away as a teenager.

Funeral services for Connie Knowles will be at St. Mary Catholic Church in Unionville, MO, at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 12, 2016. Visitation will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday, July 11. Interment will be at the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
