Richard Allen Watts, 65 of Kirksville passed away Monday (July 11, 2016) at Northeast Regional Medical Center.

The son of Donnie Bill and Dorothy Juanita (Dye) Watts, he was born October 12, 1950 in Unionville, MO. On December 6, 1969 in Graysville, MO he was united in marriage to Elyse May Schoonover and she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his father and one sister, Elizabeth Watts.

Richard is survived by one son, Josh Watts and wife Amanda of Centerville, IA; one daughter, Tracy Fuller and husband Kevin of Kirksville; four grandchildren, Sydnee and Bradly Watts of Centerville, IA, Aaron Fuller of Kirksville and Jaclyn Watts of Bloomfield, IA; his mother, Dorothy Montgomery of Kirksville; step father, Paul Montgomery of Green City, MO; two brothers, Craig Watts of Kansas City, MO and Donnie Bill Watts Jr. and wife Mickey of Milan, MO; one sister, Georgann Robbins and husband Joe of Queen City, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

Richard was born and raised in Putnam County. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1970 to go to Vietnam and served in the Army until his discharge in 1988. He worked as a corrections officer for the State of Missouri in Jefferson City, MO. He later worked as a dispatcher for the Schuyler County Sheriff’s department.

He loved to fish, watch wrestling (WWE), spending time with his family and was a big Dale Earnhardt fan. His family new him to be very stubborn and ornery, but very much loved. He was a proud Veteran of the Vietnam and Cold War Era. He missed his wife very much since her passing and is now at peace that he is with her.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday (July 16, 2016) at Dooley Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will be in the Rose Cemetery north of Martinstown, MO.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the
