Virginia Lee Robbins

Virginia Robbins, 90, of Unionville, MO, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, July 18, 2016.

Virginia Lee Robbins was born in Unionville, MO, on April 27, 1926, the daughter of Andy and Eva (Morris) Choate, who preceded her in death. She married Grover Robbins in Unionville, MO, on March 25, 1944, and he preceded her in death in 1982.

Virginia and Grover lived all their life in Putnam County, where Virginia’s large family lived nearby. Virginia was soft spoken. She loved babies, flowers, and animals. She liked to play checkers and do word searches and she was a great cook. Virginia worked outside the home at Banquet foods in Milan for 15 years. She took her first air plane ride at age 70 and an Amtrak ride to see “Oprah.” She was recently baptized at the age of 90.

Virginia was survived by ten of her eleven children: daughters Judy Kelso, Unionville, MO; Patty (Paul) Rouse, Unionville, MO; Kathleen (Doug)Kimmel, Unionville, MO; Glenda Sue Ambrosia, Unionville, MO; Carolyn (Roger) Roof, Unionville, MO; LaDonna (Jerry) Roberts, Unionville, MO; and sons Carl (Sherry) Robbins, Unionville, MO; Darl (Thelma) Robbins, Unionville, MO; David (Karen) Robbins, Unionville, MO; Randy (Melanie) Robbins, Unionville, MO. A daughter-in-law, Sharon Robbins, also survives as well as twenty-five grandchildren, forty great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, and husband, Virginia was also preceded in death by a son, Roy Lee Robbins, and a great grandson, Michael Offutt. Virginia’s siblings also preceded her in death: Irene Clapper, Fern Hodges, Dayne Choate, and Wayne Choate.

Funeral services for Virginia Robbins will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home
in Unionville, MO, at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 23, 2016. Interment will be at the Pherigo Cemetery in Putnam County, MO.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northeast Missouri and may be entrusted with Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
