Wilma Lois Searcy
Wilma Lois Searcy, 89 of Leon, IA formerly of Kirksville, MO passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the Westview Acres Nursing Home in Leon, IA.
Wilma was born on March 29, 1927 in Shelby County, MO, the daughter of Alfred B. and Esther R. (Schwada) Beckley. She graduated from Clarence High School in 1945. She also attended Chillicothe Business School.
On April 9, 1950 in Shelbina, MO she was united marriage to Wayne Allen Searcy.
Wilma worked as a homemaker, mother and accountant for her husband’s company, Searcy Construction. Wilma lived most her life in Kirksville, MO before moving to Leon, IA in 2008. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Kirksville and a 50 year member of the Kirksville Chapter #184 Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Denise Searcy Minter and two brothers, Wendell and Donald Beckley.
Survivors includes a sister, Wanda Grace Lowery of Columbia, MO; daughter, Janet Redman & husband Bob of Leon, IA; grandchildren, Jessica Redman Sullivan and husband Andrew of Leon, IA, Andrew Redman and wife Janessa of Republic, MO and Seth Minter and wife Jami of Macomb, IL; great grandchildren, Logan Proctor and Finley Sullivan of Leon, IA, Claire and Isaiah Redman of Republic, MO and Addilyn Minter of Macomb.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Kirksville with Wilma’s nephew Reverend Mark Lowery officiating. Burial will be in the Park View Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 23, 2016 with the family receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
Memorials are suggested to the Shriner Children’s Hospital or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
