Virginia “Jenny” Lee Shultz, 90, of Unionville, Mo peacefully passed away at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital on August 20th, 2016. Jenny was born on February 27th, 1926 in Martinstown, Mo, the daughter of Roy and Katie (Buster) Mulanix who preceded her in death. Jenny was raised in Putnam County and graduated from Unionville High School in 1943. On August 31st, 1943, Jenny married Clyde Shultz and four children were born to this devoted union of 72 years.
Jenny was a dedicated wife and mother who loved spending time with family and doting on her many generations of grandchildren. Throughout her life, Jenny helped Clyde on the farm as well as travelled around the U.S. in his semi-truck. She was a faithful member of the Unionville First Christian Church. In the spring and summer Jenny could be found tending to her flowers in her backyard. She was an animal lover at heart and when Jenny asked you about your family, she would be sure to include your family pet. One of her favorite activities was playing cards with friends at the Country Club. She always had a pot of coffee ready for her many close friends who would drop by to chat. She enjoyed watching sports on television, but especially loved cheering on her grandchildren at all of their sporting events. Her grandchildren knew that she was always there for them and could depend on her for encouraging words of advice.
Jenny is survived by her husband, Clyde of the home; her daughter Penny Blue and husband Chuck of Livonia, MO; and her daughter Shelle Howard of Unionville, MO. Jenny is also survived by her grandchildren Cindy Harbert (Greg) of Unionville, Mo; Jeff Shultz of Unionville, Mo; Mindy Blue and Wendy Blue of Unionville, Mo and Candy Blue of Livonia, Mo; Tyson Howard (Leah) of Council Bluffs, IA; and Nicole Lutz (Eric) of Unionville, MO. Jenny is furthermore survived by 11 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and lifelong friend, Betty Baldock.
Jenny was preceded in death by her parents as well as her son Jerry Robert; infant daughter Candace Jo; infant great-granddaughter Kenzie Blue; daughter-in-law Kay Shultz; son-in-law Kevin Howard; sisters Marjorie McDonald and Kathleen Hughes; and sister-in-law Jaunita Kent.
Jenny’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 10:30am at the Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, August 23rd between the hours of 6:00-8:00 pm.
Memorials for Jenny are suggested to be made to the Unionville First Christian Church and may be entrusted to Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th Street, Unionville, MO 63565.
