Katheryn Louise Carson

Kathy Carson, 72, of Unionville, MO, passed away unexpectedly at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville, MO, on Sunday, September 4, 2016. She had been in declining health the past few months.

Katheryn Louise (Thompson) Carson was born in Unionville, MO, on February 3, 1944, the daughter of Lloyd Laverne and Ruby Maxine (Wortz) Thompson, who preceded her in death. She was reared in the Lucerne area of Putnam County and attended the Snyder school. Kathy’s mother passed away when Kathy was 14 and she assumed a motherly role for younger brother Garry. She graduated from Unionville High School in 1961. Kathy married Edward “Jim” Carson in Unionville, MO, on September 14, 1968, and he preceded her in death on March 10, 2004.

Kathy worked as a cook at the Monroe Manor Care Facility for 20 years, retiring from that position. She was active in retirement with the OATS board. Kathy learned to drive after her husband passed away. She enjoyed collecting dolls and going to the Dairy Lane after church on Sunday. Kathy was a person with a strong and determined spirit and a person of strong opinions. She was a member of the Unionville United Methodist Church.

Kathy is survived by a brother, Garry Thompson, of Unionville, MO, and a sister-in-law, Susalee Thompson of Cambridge, IL. She is also survived by six nieces and nephews: Teresa Thompson, Tanya (Mike) Clenney, Michael (Jamie) Thompson, David Thompson, Shelia (Carroll) Noland, and Melinda Thompson. Several great nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, Kathy was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Thompson.

Funeral services for Kathy Carson will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home
at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Lucerne Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Lucerne Cemetery and may be entrusted with Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
