Wanda Patton
Wanda Patton, 80, of Lucerne, MO, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at her home on Saturday, July 4, 2009.
Wanda May Patton was born September 20, 1928 in Newton, IA. She was reared by her aunt, Mattie Bailey. Wanda graduated from High School in Newton and worked at Maytag, Corp. until she married Earl Patton on January 8, 1954 in Unionville, MO. Earl survives Wanda.
Earl and Wanda lived on a farm in the Lucerne area from 1954-1966 where Wanda was a devoted wife and mother. The family moved to Colfax, IA, in 1966 and stayed there until 1971 when they returned to Lucerne.
Wanda enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She and Earl loved their home and family and were content with the comforts of their family life. Her children and husband were the center of Wanda’s world.
In addition to her husband, Wanda is survived by her children, Wanda Wilson and husband Jack of Lucerne, MO; Larry Patton of Lucerne, MO; and Doris Edwards of St. Joseph, MO. Two grandchildren also survive, Diane Edwards and Jessica Edwards, as well as two great grandchildren, Alexandria Edwards and Daisy Clark. A sister, Ann Macken of Fort Dodge, IA, also survives.
Wanda was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Louise Patton, and a brother, Terry.
Graveside services for Wanda Patton will be held at the West Liberty Cemetery on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. A visitation will be held at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, on the same day as the service from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
Memorials for Wanda are suggested to the American Heart Association or the West Liberty Cemetery and may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th, Unionville, MO, 63565.
