Norma Mathes, 84, of Queen City passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016, at University Hospital in Columbia, MO.
The daughter of Herbert and Goldie (Bowen) Kramer, she was born February 28, 1932, in Mexico, Missouri. On January 12, 1952 in Lancaster, MO, she was united in marriage to Harold David Mathes who preceded her in death on November 13, 2009. They had been together for fifty-seven years and Norma lived on almost seven years.
Norma is survived by four daughters; Karen Slaughter and husband Larry of Queen City, Pamela Williamson of Mesa, Az., Tammy Kerby of Lancaster, and Teresa J. Mathes of Littleton, Co. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Michael and Tara Leedom, Countri and Jeremiah Kerby, Joshua and Kamela Williamson, and two great grandchildren, Tia and Easton Kerby. Also surviving are four step grandchildren; Christy Smyser, Wendy Williams, Rachel Dudley, and Austin Slaughter, six step great grandchildren Olivia and Lincoln Smyser , Ethan and Parker Williams, and Dylan and Owen Slaughter. She is also survived by two sisters Nancy Perry of Kirksville, and Sharon Colton of Columbia, a brother Jerry Kramer of Lancaster and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and grandparents, a sister Wanda Shaw and four brothers; Leroy, Loyal, Danny and Joe Kramer.
Norma attended the Queen City School graduating with the class of 1949. After graduation she worked in Quincy, Illinois, at the telephone co. until her marriage. She then worked for Union Carbide for several years.
Norma enjoyed reading, flowers, her kitten “Baby”, her grandchildren, and all her family. She was always ready to travel anywhere.
She will be greatly missed.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday (October 16, 2016) in the Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service.
