James Westmoreland

James Westmoreland, 75 of Kirksville passed away Wednesday (October 19, 2016) at his home.

The son of Carl and May (Grisham) Westmoreland, he was born October 26, 1940 in Mountain Grove, MO. He was united in marriage to Patricia Hannan and to this union one daughter was born, Barbara Sue. He was united in marriage to Shirley Mullenix and to this union two children were born, Traci and Jimmy.

James is survived by his children, Barbara Sue Weatherman and husband Randy of Cabool, MO, Traci Jones and husband Marty of Kirksville, and Jimmy Westmoreland and wife Holly of Kirksville; five grandchildren, Derek Jones, Tiffany Jones, Carson Westmoreland, Randy Weatherman Jr., and Kristy Jackson; one great grandchild, A.J.; one sister, Helen Schoonover and husband Dick of Kirksville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Lenora Frances and Lucy Hicks.

James attended school in West Plaines, MO, Mountain Grove, MO and Norborne, MO. He entered the U.S. Army on October 17, 1963 and served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. His working career was with Green Hills Grocery Store, Montgomery Ward’s Tire Shop, Schlitz Beer Distributors, Budweiser Beer Distributors, manager of the Costal Station, Guys Chips, and Kirksville Public Schools until he retired.

He enjoyed crappie fishing, quail and rabbit hunting, collecting Browning guns, knife’s and antiques.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (October 23, 2016) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Virgil Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Forrest Llewellyn Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the
