Marcia Rae Kaiser VanGenderen died peacefully surrounded by her children on Tuesday, October 18, 2016. She was born on March 8, 1944 in Earlham, Iowa to June Medlin and Leon Kaiser. Her childhood was spent in Iowa where she began school early at the age of four. Most of Marcia’s school years were spent in Unionville, Missouri where she graduated in 1961. As a teenager, Marcia accepted Christ as her savior and was a member of the First Christian Church of Unionville, Missouri.
After high school she married Lanny Pipes and they traveled to many states working on the pipeline. They had two sons, Kevin and Stephen, and later divorced. Marcia was a hard worker and had many job opportunities. She was an enthusiastic sales person and met the public well. In one of her jobs she met her second husband, Johnny VanGenderen. They farmed and operated VanGenderen elevator. Two children were born to this union, Joni and J.C.
Marcia was preceded in death by her husband, John VanGenderen, her parents and her step father Elbert Staggs.
Marcia is survived by her aunts Dorothy Casady and Donna (Phil) Birchmier; siblings Joyce Thomas and Gayann (Lee) Tipton, Gary (Beverly) Staggs, Wanda (Wally) Freeman, and Diane Carter; children Kevin Scott (Lorie) Pipes, Stephen Kyle (Tonya) Pipes, Joni Rae (Chris) Broshar, John Christopher VanGenderen (Jessica); step children Daniel (Debbie) VanGenderen and Debra (Dale) Carvitto. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren: Justin Pipes, Kristin Burton, Jessica Pipes, Lynnsey (Brett) Simmons, Taylor Stacy, Zack Pipes, Nathan Pipes, Katelyn Pipes, Nickolas VanGenderen, John VanGenderen, Scot VanGenderen, Ava Rouse, Lily Wessel; step grandchildren Kristy (James) Blanchard, Misty Clapham, Jerod (Lisa) VanGenderen, Justin ( Brittney) VanGenderen, Ryan (Emily) VanGenderen, Stephanie VanGenderen, Lace VanGenderen, Tyler Campbell; 15 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorials services for Marcia VanGenderen will be at the Unionville Christian Church at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 23, 2016. There will be no visitation. Interment will take place at a later date.
