Shirley L. Patterson, 79 of Kirksville passed away Friday (July 17, 2009) at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO.
She was born September 7, 1929 in Gibbs, Missouri, the daughter of Richard Lee and Fae Loretta (Story) Helm. On September 14, 1946 in Brashear, MO she married Max W. Patterson and he preceded her in death on February 15, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Phyllis Helm, brother-in-law, Static White and sister-in-law, Dorothy Patterson.
Shirley is survived by two sons, Richard Patterson and wife Sue of Kirksville and Robert Patterson and wife Judy of Quincy, IL; three daughters, Janet Panhorst and husband Robert of Cincinnati, OH, Joyce Davison of Kirksville and Joni Rector and husband Ron of Macon, MO; 12 grandchildren, Bryce & Niki Patterson, Ryan & Christopher Panhorst, Jason & Samantha Patterson, Jamie, Cheyenne, Jennifer & Breanne Rector, Justin Davison & Ashley Johnson; 15 great grandchildren; four sisters, Loretta Robinson of Kansas, Arlene Crawford and husband Myron of Kirksville, Donna Hinkle and husband Lowell of LaPlata, MO and Pat Hinkle and husband David of Little Rock, AR; aunt, Geraldine White and life long friends, Reva Selby & Leanna Poore.
Shirley was raised in Gibbs, MO and graduated from the Brashear High School. She was a homemaker and raised her five children. She later worked at PNHirsh for many years and most recent she worked in the HyVee Kitchen.
She was a member of the Saddle Club and the Gibbs Christian Church. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and shopping.
Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday (July 20, 2009) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial was in Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.
Pallbearers were Bryce Patterson, Ryan Patterson, Chris Panhorst, Jason Patterson, Justin Davison and Glenn Johnson.
Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday (July 19, 2009) at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
