Keith L. Novinger
CPO Keith L. Novinger (ret.) 71, of Columbia, MO passed away October 20, 2016 at the Harry S. Truman VA Hospital in Columbia, MO.
The son of Floyd and Marjorie (Pipes) Novinger, he was born July 19, 1945 in Pure Air, MO. He was united in marriage to Peggy S. Bean, August 25, 2003, who survives him.
Keith is survived by five children: Tatha (John) Todd, Tanya Davis, and Jacob (Kelli) Novinger, all of Columbia, MO; Christopher (Rebecca) Novinger of Mansfield, TX and Sarah (Wesley) McFarland of Weatherford, TX. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Tanner Novinger, Josiah Parsons, Tatianna Todd, D’Trenae Davis, Baylor Novinger, Tasia Davis, Haleigh McFarland, Corbin Novinger and Layton Novinger; one brother, Gene Novinger of Novinger, MO; one sister, Virginia Parsons of Millington, TN; one brother-in-law Gary Brown of New Haven, MO and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews,
He was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Don Parsons and Eugene Bean, as well as his parents.
Keith attended school at Ringo Point and Novinger R-1 schools. He graduated from Novinger High School with the class of 1963.
After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served his country for 23 years, as an air traffic controller. No man loved his country more than Keith did.
Keith was a huge St. Louis Cardinal fan and rarely missed watching a game. His other passion was Mizzou basketball. The highlight of his year was the NCAA Basketball Tournament every March. He was loved by many and had a heart the size of Texas. He touched many people while on this earth and he will be dearly missed.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2016, at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Kirksville, MO with Reverend Jim Maxey officiating. Interment with Military Rites will be in the Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, MO following the service.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Pall bearers will be Tony Parsons, Tom Hays, Todd Parsons, Todd Hays, Tracy Novinger, and Jeremy Brown.
In lieu of flowers, Keith has requested that donations be made to the Central Missouri Honor Flight. He was honored to be one of the veterans who made the flight in 2014. Donations may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
