Lena Margaret Lane

Lena Margaret Lane, age 85, of Unionville, MO, passed away October 22nd, 2016 at The Arbors Colony Pointe in Columbia, MO.

Lena was born May 29th, 1931, on a farm in Princeton, MO, the daughter of Marion and Thelma (LaFevers) Summers, who preceded her in death. Lena Lane became a member of the Hunter’s Baptist Church of Princeton, MO, when baptized on August 31, 1945. Lena graduated from the Princeton High School in 1949. On October 2, 1951, she married Jim Lane in Princeton, MO.

Lena was a homemaker when her husband, Jim Lane, joined the United States Army in 1950. Following the army, Jim and Lena returned to the Princeton area and farmed until 1956. In 1956, they moved to Davenport, IA, and Lena worked and modeled for Parker’s clothing store. In 1976, Lena and Jim purchased a business in Unionville, MO, that was known as the Lane Implement and Farm Supply. After they sold the business, Lena and Jim, along with a group of individuals charted the Putnam County State Bank where her husband served on the board.

Lena loved her husband, who she cared for many years after he became blind. Lena also served as a caregiver for her parents. She loved her family. She enjoyed their home at Lake Thunderhead, where she entertained family and friends. She loved cooking, dancing, and listening to music.

Lena is survived by her brother-in-law, Bob Lane and wife Judy of Unionville, MO; and Joe Lane and wife Linda of Liberty, MO; Sister-in-laws Mary Lou Arnold and husband Bob of Eldridge, IA; Frances Wahl and husband Harley of Holt, MO; June Shockey of Claycomo, MO; Ann Young of Durant, IA; Irma Lane of Rock Island, IL and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceding Lena in death is her husband, Jim Lane; parents Marion and Thelma Summers; brother Raymond Summers; sister Phyllis German; Sister-in-laws Norma Summers, Katharyn Berger, Janet Elsey, and Cleo Lane; brother-in-laws James German, Bill Lane, Herb Lane, Harold Lane, Frank Lane, Harold Elsey, Clarence Overholtzer, Bill Shockey, Bob Young, and Alex Berger; and nieces and nephews Elizabeth Jeanne Dibble, Jerry Lane, and Alan Berger.

Lena will be greatly missed by her family and friends and was loved by them all.

Funeral services for Lena Lane will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 28, 2016 with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, MO.
