Walter Rude, 75, of Greentop went to be with his Heavenly Father, Friday, October 28, 2016.
The son of Ernest and Lizzie (Aldridge) Rude he was born July 25, 1941 in rural Queen City. He grew up in the rural Queen City area, attending rural schools and graduating from the Queen City High School with the class of 1959.
Walter worked for Hollisters in Kirksville and retired from there after twenty-nine years.
On October 29, 1981, in rural Middletown, Mo., he was united in marriage to Carolyn Thorpe who survives. Also surviving are two sons; Randy Leroy Rude and Steve Allen Rude, four grandchildren; Brooke Hurley and husband Casey, Elizabeth Rogers, Cassidy Rude, and Dalton Wright, three great grandchildren; Teagen Hurley, Kinslea Hurley, and Karsyn Yowell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Everett Rude and Ernie Rude, two sisters; Mary Anna Collis and Maxine Boggs, and one nephew, Ernest Rude Jr. and two nieces, Beverly Robinson and Debbie Miller.
Walter was a member of the Bethel Community Church.
He liked to coon hunt, ride horses, and play cards. He was a good friend and always ready to lend a helping hand. He really enjoyed his grandchildren and will greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday (October 31, 2016) in the Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Cross officiating. Burial will be in the Coffey Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Miller, Travis Bridgeman, Jerry Byrn, Larry Lowe, Dave Clark, and Tyson March. Honorary Bearers will be Ray Dobson, Martin Ferdig, Jim Anesi, and Orval Thompson.
Visitation will be Sunday (October 30, 2016) after 12:00 noon with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Dooley Funeral Home, Queen City, Mo. 63561.
