Lon Eric Slycord, 38, of Livonia, MO, passed away at his home on Friday, November 4, 2016. He had been in ill health.
Lon Eric Slycord was born in Ottumwa, IA, on May 3, 1978, the son of Merle “Sonny” Slycord, Jr. and Connie (Puffinbarger) Baldwin. Lon grew up in Conyers, GA, with this mother and step-father, Connie and Galen Baldwin. He attended schools there and became an apprentice electrician, working in residential construction. He later worked installing cabinets with Centennial Kitchens, owned by his step-father. Lon became disabled in 2007 after a severe injury in an ATV accident. He moved to Livonia, MO, with Connie and Galen in February 2014.
Lon loved to fish; he often found his greatest peace and serenity by casting a line into the water. He also loved nature and often felt closest to God when in His creation. Lon had a quiet and reserved manner, but he also had a quiet and funny sense of humor. He was always ready with a quick and funny comeback and could be a little goofy at times. Lon loved his family most of all. He had a good heart and would do anything for anybody. Lon enjoyed listening to country music and Luke Bryant was his favorite artist.
Lon is survived by his children: son, Gaven Slycord, and daughters Melia, Hallie, Madison, Kayden and Peyton Slycord, all of Irving, TX, as well as a step-daughter, Elizabeth O’Kelley. He is also survived by a step-granddaughter, Daisy O’Kelly. Lon is survived by his mother, Connie Baldwin and her husband Galen of Livonia, MO; and his father, Sonny Slycord and his wife Sherry Slycord of Ottumwa, IA. Other survivors include: Lon’s sister, Heather Hulsey of Monticello, GA, and her daughters are Emerson and Abigail Hulsey; his step-brother Nick Fiscella of Bonny Lake, WA, his step-sister Laurie Fiscella of Spicer, MN; and step-grandparents, Howard and Glennis Baldwin of Unionville, MO.
Lon was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Altabelle and Donald Puffinbarger and his paternal grandparents, Merle and Berniece Slycord.
Memorial services for Lon Slycord will be at Omaha Baptist Church near Unionville, MO, at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 19, 2016. There will be no inurnment.
Memorial donations are suggested to the family and may be entrusted with Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
