Vera Fox, 87 of Queen City passed away Friday, November 11, 2016, in Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
The daughter of Clarence and Ada (Ellsworth) Truitt, she was born October 10, 1929, in Excelsior Springs, MO. As a young child she and her family moved several times so she attended several different schools but mostly in Novinger, MO. On September 9, 1947, in Davenport, IA, she was united in marriage to William Gale Stone and to this marriage six children were born. William preceded her in death on October 10, 1970. On April 1, 1972 she was united in marriage to James Elias Fox. In 1973 they moved to Queen City. Jim preceded her in death July 5, 1983.
Vera worked for several years at the Times Democrat Newspaper in Davenport, IA, before moving to Queen City. She worked at Hollister Inc. in Kirksville, for twenty-two years retiring March 31, 1995.
She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning, and bingo. She enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren and they especially liked her homemade noodles.
She is survived by her children; William Stone and wife Patti of Davenport, IA, Chuck Stone of Pleasant Valley, IA, Pam Gordy of Fairfield, IA, Jean Lewis and husband Rob of Glenwood, MO, Debbie Shoemaker and husband Jerry of Greentop, MO, and Larry Stone and wife Piper of Pleasant Valley. IA. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Winnie Truitt, several nieces and nephews, and several step-children and their families.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a daughter Vera Joyce Stone, a special friend Gilbert Mullins, two brothers; LeeRoy Truitt and Clarence Truitt Jr., and a sister Mary Ann Creasey
Funeral service will be held Tuesday (November 15, 2016) at 1:00 p.m. in the Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Burial will be in the Lutz Cemetery
Pallbearers will be Corey Grawe, Nick Lingle, Michael Gordy, Bryan Buckallew, Preston Buckallew, and Cody Mathias. Honorary Bearers will be Brittney Stone, Tiffany Lewis, Willie Lewis, and Tyler Gordy.
Visitation will be after noon Monday (November 14, 2016) with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. to receive family and friends in the Dooley Funeral Home, Queen City, MO 63561 660-766-2241
