Eleanor Roberts, D.O., 95, of Queen City passed away Monday at the Schuyler county Nursing Home.
Born Ruth Eleanor Sterett, July 6, 1921, in Chicago, IL, to Dwight and Edith (Maine) Sterett, she grew up in Verona, NJ. After graduating from Allegheny College (PA) in 1943 she joined the US Navy and was stationed at Corpus Christi, TX during WWII. Eleanor then attended Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCOM) where she met and married fellow student Edward M. Roberts on October 9, 1948. They graduated in 1950 and practiced medicine in Queen City, MO, retiring in 1988.
Edward preceded her in death. Surviving are sons Alfred, of the home, and James (Judy) Roberts of Grayslake, IL, daughter Marjorie (David) Carpenter, of Clark, MO, grandsons Christopher (Erin) and Jason (Andrea) Roberts and Matt Carpenter, granddaughter Sarah Carpenter (Dan) Mirth, and step granddaughter Rachel Carpenter (Greg) Hrdina, 1 great grandson, 2 great granddaughters, 2 step great grandsons and 1 step great granddaughter.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (December 3, 2016) in the Dooley Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at noon Saturday. Burial will be in the Queen City Cemetery.
