Agnes Eliza Maulsby

Agnes Maulsby, 100, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Putnam County Care Center in Unionville, MO, on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. She had been a resident at the Center for five years.

Agnes Eliza Maulsby was born in Unionville, MO, on March 13, 1916, the daughter of Grover and Edna (Probasco) Maulsby, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Unionville High School in 1933 and began working as a secretary in various offices. She eventually began a 40 year career as secretary for Ross Produce in Unionville.

Agnes was an active and devoted member of First Baptist Church in Unionville. She served as church clerk for a number of years as well as teaching Sunday School. Agnes was also active in the Women’s Missionary Union. Her church family was very important to her. Agnes also loved her nieces and nephews and they were very fond of her. She liked to travel and was always ready to go. Agnes was a quiet person who left a wonderful influence on those who knew her well.

Agnes is survived by a sister, Virginia Torrey of Unionville, MO, and a brother, Jim Maulsby and his wife Marlene of Macon, MO. Several nieces and nephews also survive as well as a sister-in-law, Bonnie Maulsby, of Milan, MO.

Others who preceded Agnes in death were her brothers, Jack, Ed, Charley, Bob and Richard Maulsby, and a sister, Lois, who died in infancy. She was also preceded in death by sisters-in-law Stella Maulsby, Doris Jean Maulsby, and Wynona Maulsby as well as brother-in-law, Jake Torrey.

Funeral services for Agnes Maulsby will be held at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2017. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Unionville Cemetery.

Memorials for Agnes are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Unionville or the Putnam County Care Center and may be entrusted with Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
