June Carol Fowler

June Carol (Hatfield) Fowler, 69, of Unionville, passed away suddenly at her home on Wednesday, December 28, 2016.  The daughter of Leslie E. and Winnie L. (Schneider) Hatfield, June was born on, January 11, 1947, in Putnam County, Missouri.  She attended the Lowground and Martinstown schools through the 8th grade, and graduated from Unionville High School in 1964. Following her graduation she continued her education receiving an RN Degree from Missouri Baptist School of Nursing in 1967 and spent her adult life in the field of nursing.  She worked both in hospital nursing and then working throughout northeast Missouri in home health retiring from nursing at Putnam County Memorial Hospital.

On August 12, 1967 she married Donald "Don" Fowler in Unionville, he survives of the home.  They have two sons, Richard (Kenndaline) Fowler, of Helena, Montana; and Ryan (Michele) Fowler, of O'Fallon, Illinois.  Also surviving are three grandchildren:  Chase and Katy Fowler, of Helena, Montana; and Triston Fowler, of O'Fallon, Illinois ; two sisters, Laura Kay (Don) Lockhart, of Toulon, Illinois; and Marcia (Michael ) Beck, of Raymore, MO., a brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Deena) Fowler, of Chesterfield, MO. ; numerous nieces and nephews.

June was also a military wife, and lived at various military bases both in the United States and overseas.  Following her retirement from nursing, she enjoyed reading, doll collecting, spending time with her family, and greatly enjoyed her yearly "sister's get-a-ways".  She loved watching softball games and for many years she and Don attended the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, and was known for her official softball scorekeeping.

June was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Anne Haynes chapter in Kirksville, MO.

Preceding her in death were her parents, mother and father-in-law, Bob and Eileen Fowler, brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Janice Doolin.

Services will be held at the Playle & Collins Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. with a funeral service at 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made on her behalf to the family, or the Putnam County High School Softball program.
