Ronald Homer, 68 of Greentop passed away Saturday night (December 31, 2016), in Greentop, Missouri.

The son of Lewis and Bernita (Schisler) Homer he was born May 9, 1948, in Galesburg, Illinois. In March of 1967 he was united in marriage to Penny Crump and to this marriage three children were born, Tammy, R.D. and Heidi. On January 1, 1976 he was united in marriage to Joeann Buckallew and to this marriage a son, Tracy was born.

Ronald lived in Avon, Illinois, until the age of nine when he and his family moved to rural Queen City. He attended the Brushy Country School and graduated from the Queen City High School with the class of 1966.

He was an over the road truck driver retiring after thirty-eight years. He also raised cattle.

Ronald is survived by his wife Joeann, his children; Tammy Winn and husband Leslie of Greentop, R.D. Homer and wife DeNita of Queen City, Heidi Henderson and husband Mark of Queen City, and Tracy Homer and fiancé Melissa Toney of Excelsior Springs, twenty grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Sharon Colton Tuttle of Kirksville and Margaret Rose Whitehurst and husband Ira of Virginia Beach, Virginia, a brother Craig Homer and wife Wanda of Queen City, an Aunt Karen Homer of Glenwood as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Jean Homer, and a brother-in-law Gary “Shug” Colton.

He was a member of the Coffey Church.

Ronald enjoyed farming, working with cattle, hunting, and liked to travel.

Funeral service will be held Friday (January 6, 2017) at 10:00 a.m. in the Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Burial will be in the Greentop Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Audrey Drummond, Kerey McGee, Terry Sevits, Matt Adams, Darrell Hill, and Ron Atkinson. Honorary bearers will be Grandsons.

Visitation will be after 1:00 p.m. Thursday (January 5, 2017) with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Dooley Funeral Home, Queen City, MO 63561.
