Pat Irene Hyle

Pat Hyle, 71, of Unionville, MO, passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA, on Monday, January 16, 2017.

Patricia Irene Hyle was born in Wayne County, IA, on July 13, 1945, the daughter of Elvin Lee “Buck” and Iva Irene (Hill) Furnish, who preceded her in death. She was reared in the western part of Putnam County and graduated from Unionville High School in 1963. Pat married Dennis Hyle in Hartford, MO, on April 25, 1964, and he survives at home.

Pat and Dennis began married life in LeClair, IA. They moved back to Putnam County in 1967 and then moved to Omaha in 1973. Pat raised dogs and was a dog broker for 25 years. She raised all breeds of dogs and sold them all over the country. Pat loved to raise produce and flowers in her big gardens and she liked to help on the farm, especially when the calves were born in the spring. She was active in 4-H, being a leader in crafts, dogs, horses, and sheep. She and Dennis were honored for 25 years of 4-H leadership. Pat became a Christian as a young adult and had a genuine love for young people. She and Dennis worked with the youth at Omaha for a number of years, taking them to Sports Retreat, youth camps, mission trips, and sponsoring a youth singing group. They led weekly youth Bible studies and guided many young people in their faith. Pat also worked at Rodeo Bible Camp every year.

In addition to her husband, Pat is survived by three children: David (Denise) Hyle and Doug (Sara) Hyle of Unionville, MO; and Dennise (Ric) O’Dell of Florissant, MO. Her surviving grandchildren are Derric (Maura) O’Dell, Justin (Rachel) O’Dell, Dalton (Jenna) Hyle, Dathan (Cheyenne) Hyle, Jennifer O’Dell, and Delaney, Dayne, and Dayley Hyle. Pat’s great grandchildren are Wyatt Moore, Harper and Kora Hyle, Aleaha Hyle, Liam O’Dell, and Dash O’Dell. Pat is also survived by two sisters, Kay Smith of Albia, IA, and Angie Brasfield of Joplin, MO.

Pat was preceded in death by her brother, George Lee Furnish, and three grandchildren, Amanda Ruth Hyle, Davie Ray Hyle, and Lloyd Lee Hyle.

Funeral services for Pat Hyle will at Omaha Baptist Church at 10:00 am on Friday, January 20, 2017. Visitation will be at the church from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 19. Interment will be at the Shipley Cemetery.
