Lester Guy Casady

Lester Casady, 74, of Hartford, MO, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, January 16, 2017. He had experienced a brief battle with cancer.

Lester Guy Casady “Smoke” was born in Putnam County, MO, on November 5, 1942, the son of Darl and Revah (Munden) Casady, who preceded him in death. Lester was reared in the Hartford area and later graduated from Unionville High School in 1960. Lester married Lora Louise Hamilton on June 9, 1963. He then married Julia Willard on October 6, 2004.

Lester is survived by his wife Julia, his daughter JoAnne Casady (Donnie) Smith Holt MO, and son Benjamin (Bambi) Casady of Kansas City, MO Also surviving are his step-son, Joseph Shadden of Stockton, KS, his step-daughter Misty Willard of Fort Scott, KS. His also survived by his grandchildren Cassie & DJ Smith, Miles McCoy, Emily & Colton Casady, Gavin & Delanie Foley, Alyssa & Michael Robinson, and Kaylee Bray. Lester is also survived by nephews and nieces, as well as close family friend Doug Hudlemeyer. The family extends a special thanks to Penny Warner and Hospice for the great care they gave to Lester.

Others who preceded Lester in death were his brothers, Gary Casady and Leland Casady.

A visitation for Lester will be held at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 28. Interment will take place at the Hartford Cemetery following the visitation.
