Irene Elizabeth Ewing was born August 1, 1915, in Gillete, WY, and passed away March 16, 2017. She was the daughter of Fred and Mary Maude Lesh Lark. At the age of 2 years, she with her parents moved to Missouri. She attended school in Harrison County and graduated from Blythedale High School in 1934. In January 1936 Irene was united in marriage to Carl Ewing who passed away July 31, 2003. Surviving are one son, Floyd Ewing and wife Gwen of Newcastle, WY; Alice Jean Gillilan of Bixby, OK; and Marjorie Boyer and husband George of Harrisonville, MO; one Brother Keyth Lark and wife Kathy of Springfield, MO; seven grandchildren, Pat, Brian, and Shawn Gillilan, Michael and Matthew Boyer, Kim Janicke and Kristen Ewing; eleven great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Lois Funk and Mildred Sharples, and son-in-law Dan Gillilan.
She was a member of the Town and Country Club, the Rebekak Lodge, the County Line Extension Club, the UMW, and the Methodist Church. She was a member of the Oats Committee and served as their treasurer for 15 years.
Irene was baptized in 1945 and became a member of the String Town Church, later transferring to the Methodist Church. She enjoyed her family, liked to crochet, work crossword puzzles, and read.
Funeral services for Irene Ewing will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 21, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Unionville Cemetery, Unionville, MO.
Memorials for Irene may be given to the Putnam County Care Center and may be entrusted to the Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
