Edna Mae Small Welsh age 98, passed away very peacefully on April 7, 2017 at the Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville, MO.

The daughter of Harry and Carrie (Nelson) Berg, Edna was born October 24, 1918 in Denver, CO. In September, 1939 in Denver, CO she was united in marriage to Faye Small who preceded her in death in 1987. In October, 1999 in Lancaster, MO she was united in marriage to Leslie Welsh who preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Ronald Small; granddaughter, Sheri Matheney and great-grandson, Jacob Lefler.

Edna is survived by three daughters, Sonja Rigdon and husband, Charles of Queen City, MO, Connie M. Speaks and husband, Larry G. of Greentop, MO and Trudie Matheney of Kirksville, MO; fourteen grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; nineteen great-great-grandchildren and one nephew, Jackson Berg of Mesa, AZ.

She was reared in Denver, CO on a ranch in the mountains, where she attended school. In 1949 she and her husband moved to Schuyler County, MO. Edna was employed at Kirksville Floral Company and DeRosear Flowers. She loved the out of doors and riding horses. She loved to can all kinds of vegetables and black berries.
Edna was a member of the Christian Church in Lancaster, MO. She volunteered at the Schuyler County Nutrition Center. Edna was a loving mother and loved every one of her grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April12, 2017, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Sonny Smyser officiating. Music will be provided by Jared Speaks singing “Amazing Grace”, accompanied by Dianthe Cable, organist. Burial will be in the Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, MO

Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the

Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home

Memorials are suggested to the Schuyler County Nutrition Center and can be left at or sent to the funeral home.
