Margaret Adams, 66, of Fulton, MO, passed away at the Jefferson Lodge in Fulton on September 8, 2008, after a long battle with cancer.
Margaret Sue (Abbott) Adams was born in Iowa City, IA, on July 17, 1943, the daughter of Bernard Riley and Ethel May (Leach) Abbott, who preceded her in death. She was reared in the southern Iowa/northern Missouri area where her Dad worked in construction. She married Roy Adams, Sr., in 1963 and moved to Glasgow, MO. She moved to Lemons, MO after Roy passed away and she moved to Fulton, MO, to be near her son following the death of long time friend and companion Bill Owens.
Margaret was an avid fan of old TV Westerns and of World Wrestling (WWE). She also loved to crochet and do other kinds of crafts. She enjoyed playing bingo at the community center where she lived. Margaret was a homemaker who loved life and fought through several difficult illnesses throughout her life. Ten years ago she battled breast cancer and then was diagnosed with cancer again two years ago, finally succumbing to the disease. Margaret was an enthusiastic participant in the Relay for Life. She had a bright outlook on life and a wonderful sense of humor.
Margaret is survived by her son, Roy Adams, Jr., of Mexico, MO, and a granddaughter, Caitie Hudlow. Four brothers also survive: Doris Abbott of Oklahoma City, OK; Leon Abbott of Kansas City, MO; Buck Abbott of Anchorage, AK; and Bill Abbott of Columbia, MO. A sister, Charlotte Abbott of Kileen, TX, also survives.
Funeral services for Margaret Adams will be held at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home on Sunday, September 20, 2009, at 2:30 pm with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Exline (IA) Cemetery.
Memorials for Margaret are suggested to the Relay for Life and may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th, Unionville, MO, 63565.
