Donald L. Falkiner
Donald L. Falknier, 79 of Greentop, Missouri passed away Thursday (October 1, 2009) at the Kirksville Manor Care Center.
The son of Walter and Lottie (Franks) Falkiner, he was born on November 5, 1929 in Anabel, MO. He was united in marriage to Bernice Knockel on December 24, 1971 in Palmyra, MO who preceded him in death.
Donald is survived by one daughter, Jeannine Limberg of Qwensville, MO; four grandchildren, Candy Engle and husband Clifton of Greentop, MO, Michelle Limberg of St. Louis, MO, Wesley Limberg of Bartlett, TN, Charlie Falkiner and wife Tina of Macon, MO; four great grandchildren, Lane Engle, Allison Engle, Melissa Falkiner, Austin Falkiner and a special friend, Martha Woods of Greentop, MO.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenneth Falkiner; one brother, Walter Jr. Falkiner; five sisters, Estel Rufener, Ruby Bennett, Marie Beltramo, Juanita Mathis and Sadie Bender.
Donald was raised in the Anabel and Bevier area where he attended school. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korea Conflict. He was wounded in Korea and was awarded the Purple Heart. After returning from the service he was employed with REA in Macon, MO. He moved to Palmyra, MO where he was employed with Northeast Power. He became employed with General Electric for 22 years retiring in 1994. After his retirement he moved to a farm in Greentop, MO.
Donald was of the Catholic faith and was a member of V.F. W. Post #5898. He leaves a lot of friends, relatives and his little black girlfriend.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P. M. Sunday (October 4, 2009 at the Dooley Funeral Home with Dan Todd officiating. Musical selections will be “On Eagles Wings” and “When I Get Where I Am Going”. Interment with military rites will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Macon, MO.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Brewer, Cory March, Dustin Bowen, Jeff Watson, Greg Murphy and Terry Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Elder, Carroll Slusher, Leon Schneider, Fred Rowe, Jerry Williams, Don Schmitt, Mike Richardson and Tyrone Slayton.
Visitation will be after 2:00 P. M. Saturday (October 3, 2009) with the family meeting friends from 6 to 8 P. M. at the
Dooley Funeral Home
